Hindu pakoda vendor abused and assaulted by Muslim youths during Urs fair

Case Summary
A fight broke out between Hindus and Muslims during the Urs fair in Sirauli, involving abusive language. The incident took place on January 11, 2025, when three Muslim youths, Suhail, Shahnawaz, and Ayan, along with two unknown individuals, approached Anil, a Hindu vendor selling pakodas, and began to abuse him. Anil objected, which led to a heated argument and eventually escalated into a physical altercation. Later that evening, Anil filed a complaint with the police. Inspector Prayagraj Singh confirmed that a report had been filed.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
There is a precedent for Hindus being targeted for their religious identity in unprovoked attacks, where the primary motive is hostility toward the community. Such attacks aim to intimidate, instil fear, and disrupt the unity of Hindus. However, in the case of Anil, there are no clear details on why the Muslim perpetrator targeted him. The details of the case suggest that the trigger of the attack was an argument that happened between the victim and the perpetrators after the latter abused the victim. Since there is no indication that the abuse and the subsequent assault were religiously motivated, the case is currently classified as "undecided." Should further information come to light indicating a religious motive, it will be shifted to the hate crime database.
