In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a 22-year-old Hindu girl was deceived, raped and pressured for religious conversion by a Muslim youth named Anas, who pretended to be a Hindu. According to reports, the victim worked at a petrol pump and was living with her mother and brother. She came into contact with the accused, Anas, son of Naeem Baig and a resident of Taj Nagar on Jhalaria Road, about a year ago in 2024. The accused befriended her by introducing himself as a Hindu man named Ashwin, and they began talking to each other over the phone. On 7 December 2025, the accused called her to Star Square and took her to a dargah, where he disclosed that he was Muslim and that his real name was Anas, following which he proposed to her for Nikah (Islamic marriage). The victim, realising that she was deceived and his religious identity had been deliberately concealed to initiate the relationship, refused and returned home. On 12 December 2025, at approximately 10:30 pm, the accused again called her to Star Square and, under the pretext of a conversation, took her to an empty room in Scheme No. 78. There, he emotionally manipulated her and pressured her to convert to Islam. When she resisted and attempted to leave, he physically assaulted her, raped her and subjected her to death threats in an effort to silence her. The victim managed to escape, returned home and informed her mother about her ordeal. Subsequently, she filed a complaint at the Lasudia police station. The police took the accused into custody and registered a case under serious penal provisions, including rape. During interrogation, objectionable photographs of other women and an image of a knife were recovered from his mobile phone. The police initiated a detailed investigation into the offence and the broader pattern of conduct connected to the accused.
