Case Summary

In the Mishrauli Narkatiya village of Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, a Hindu family, including women and children, was brutally attacked by a Muslim mob over a minor scuffle. According to reports, the dispute began on the night of 6 December 2025, when a minor Hindu boy named Rajkumar Yadav (16) was returning from a party with two of his friends. During this time, some Muslim youth passed lewd comments at them, leading to a scuffle which was initially calmed by onlookers. However, the matter escalated the following morning when 20 to 25 Muslim individuals, led by Mehboob Alam, Chhotu Ansari, and Ayub arrived on bikes in Narkatia Khurd around 10 a.m. They entered Sharma Nand Gaur’s house and engaged in a heated argument that quickly turned into a physical altercation. They brutally attacked the Hindu boy's family, leaving several of them severely injured. The sudden outbreak of violence by the Muslim mob caused widespread panic in the village. Sharma Nand Gaur (65) stated that his family members were preparing to go to the shop when the attack occurred, and he had inquired about the beating of his shop boy the previous night, which triggered the confrontation. The Hindu family, including Sharma Nand Gaur (65), Chandni Devi (40), Sumit Kumar Gaur (24), Rajkumar Yadav (16), Sohan Yadav (20), Rakesh Kumar (38), and Jileva Devi (52), were left seriously injured and were admitted to the hospital. The police arrived promptly, sent the injured to the hospital for treatment, and deployed additional forces in the village to manage tensions. As of the date of this report, no formal complaint had been registered by the victims. Police stated that legal action would be taken upon receipt of the complaints.

Why it is Hate Crime ?

In this case, the immediate cause of the crime appears to be non-religious, that is, a minor altercation, which escalated into a violent clash between members of the Hindu and Muslim communities. What began as a minor exchange quickly intensified into a communal altercation, with a mob of 20-25 Muslim individuals barging into the Hindu victim's house and assaulting them. The violence resulted in a Hindu family, including women and children, sustaining serious injuries. The intensity of the assault and the violence over such a minor issue raises concern about whether simmering communal tensions in the area or the underlying religious hostility could have contributed to this escalation the members of the Muslim community. Numerous documented instances show Muslims targeting Hindus with hostility rooted in disdain for the Hindu community and faith. These acts are rarely isolated instances of violence but rather stem from entrenched religious intolerance and animosity, fitting into a broader pattern of anti-Hindu hatred. Many communal attacks by Muslims against Hindus stem directly from such religious hatred, rendering this incident a strong candidate for hate crime classification. However, in this specific case, the available reports do not provide any concrete evidence of religious hatred as the motive. There is no mention of religious slurs, targeted attacks based on identity, or any indication that the violence was premeditated or directed at the victim because he was Hindu. The incident appears to have developed spontaneously from a local dispute, which then escalated due to the involvement and anger of individuals from both communities. Neither the police nor the victim’s family nor the media reports have suggested that the assault was driven by religious animosity. Therefore, this case is currently being added to the "Undecided" database. If any new evidence surfaces confirming religious animosity as a key factor, the case will be reclassified and added to the Hate Crime Database of the Hinduphobia Tracker.
