Noida: Salman and Adil kill Badal Saxena as he learns about Salman’s affair with Hindu woman
Case Summary
On March 5th, police arrested 24-year-old Adil from Bijnor in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Badal Saxena in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Badal's body was found near the Amrapali Bridge on December 30th, after which his brother Vishnu filed a complaint suspecting Salman, Badal's colleague, and a female coworker. The police initiated an investigation and filed a case under relevant sections of the IPC. Salman was apprehended on January 18th, but Adil fled to Mumbai. However, the police located and arrested Adil in Mumbai on March 5th. The murder reportedly stemmed from Salman's belief that Badal was defaming him after learning about Salman's affair with a Hindu coworker.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
In this case, while the Hindu man was killed because he found out about the Muslim man's affair with a Hindu woman and the murder itself could be potentially driven by religious animosity, there are no details that substantiate this being a religiously motivated hate crime. This is being categorised under the undecided category. It will be added to the hate crime database if more information emerges.
