Case Summary

On February 14th, 2024, in the Sabarkantha district of Gujarat, a Hindu man named Rajubhai Kantibhai Rathore was killed in an attack by a Muslim mob. The incident allegedly stemmed from a monetary dispute between Hindu and Muslim communities. The police filed a case against 30 individuals and initiated an investigation. Around 10 pm, a mob of 30 armed with weapons confronted Mayurbhai in Khodiyar Kuwa Motamadh area over a money transaction dispute. They vandalized a car and turned off street lights before pelting stones. The mob, residents of Bhattiwala and Jambuchora province, fatally assaulted Rajubhai with iron pipes. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. Local police and senior officials rushed to the scene upon learning of the incident, deploying a large number of personnel. After the deceased's son filed a complaint, a case was filed against 30 individuals under various sections of the IPC and GPA. The accused include Ayaz Qureshi, Munaf Qureshi, Ayub Qureshi, Rashid Mian, Imran Mian Qureshi, Maqbool Mian Qureshi, Jani Kamruddin, Rais Mian, Mehboob Khan, Malek, Sameer, Manan Harun, Nisar's brother, Rafiq. Bhatte, Nisar Mian, Babu Akbar, Yunus Mian, and Feroze Mian.
