Case Summary

In Jasoi village of Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh, a Hindu man named Suraj was brutally assaulted for having an interfaith marriage by his Muslim wife's family members. On 11 October 2025, Suraj was spotted at a local shop in the Jasoi village along with his friends, when two masked Muslim men approached from behind and attacked him with sticks. They brutally assaulted him, dragging him to the ground and repeatedly striking him before fleeing the scene. Later, police came to the spot and admitted Suraj to a local hospital. He was later referred to Meerut for further treatment due to the seriousness of his injuries. The incident also drew the attention of Swami Yashveer Maharaj, head of the Yoga Sadhna Ashram, who visited the hospital and urged the police to take swift action. The Uttar Pradesh Police registered a case under Section 109 of the BNS (attempt to murder) and arrested one of the accused. Authorities identified six individuals in connection with the case, naming three Muslim men: Nadeem, Naseem, and Wakar. Police teams were deployed to apprehend the remaining accused. Additional police forces were deployed to prevent further conflict and maintain peace in the area.
