The police launched an investigation and examined CCTV footage from the area surrounding the temple. They also questioned people in the area and several suspects. The investigation subsequently led the police to the person responsible for the desecration. According to the police investigation, the accused was unemployed and had become angry with God over his circumstances. He believed that God was not supporting him and that he would remain unemployed. At around 3 am on 27 August 2026, he left his home carrying a chisel and a hammer. He went to the temple and damaged the idols installed on the premises. He then returned home and hid the tools used in the act. Following his questioning, the police recovered the chisel and hammer from his residence. He was arrested and subsequently sent to jail on judicial remand following court orders. The perpetrator was identified as 42-year-old Hemant Agarwal, a resident of Padav Gudhiyari near Main Bazaar. Reports also revealed that an idol of Sai Baba installed in the temple premises was also desecrated during the incident.
