Hindu woman goes missing after being lured away by Muslim man; family fears forced religious conversion
Case Summary
In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a Hindu woman working as a private-school teacher went missing from her home in the Civil Lines police station area. The victim's family stated that a Muslim man named Faiz the son of Maulana Mansoor, Imam of the Kachhari mosque, lured her and took her away. According to the reports, the victim's family members had caught Faiz speaking to his daughter over the phone a day before her disappearance on 18th August 2026. Although the situation was temporarily managed at that time, Faiz subsequently lured the woman and left with her. The family expressed fears that their daughter might be forcibly converted to Islam and her life could be in danger. The victim's family, along with Hindu activists from the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Suraksha Sangathan, reached the police station after her disappearance and submitted a written complaint. Local Hindu organisations expressed strong outrage over the incident. Sachin Sirohi, National President of the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Suraksha Sangathan, demanded strict action against the accused and raised concerns regarding the circumstances of the woman's disappearance. Based on the complaint submitted by the woman's father, SP City Vinayak Gopal Bhosale ordered the registration of an FIR at Civil Lines Police Station. Police teams were deployed to trace and locate Faiz. Preliminary investigation found that the accused's family originally hailed from Bihar. Police stated that action was underway in the matter.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
This case has been added to the Undecided database because there is not enough conclusive evidence to establish a religious motive at this stage. The available facts raise concerns that the Hindu woman was lured and taken away by Faiz, the son of Maulana Mansoor, Imam of the Kachhari mosque. Based on the statements of the victim's family, there is a strong suspicion that the Hindu girl was lured and abducted by Muslim men for religious conversion. This could potentially be a crime motivated by religious profiling, as it has been observed that in many cases, Muslim perpetrators target Hindu girls due to inherent animosity towards Hindus. Hindu girls are very vulnerable to crimes like rape and forced conversion at the hands of Muslim men. The victim's family specifically expressed fears that her daughter could be converted to Islam and her life was in danger. These circumstances are consistent with patterns documented in several previous cases where Hindu women were isolated from their families and targeted for religious conversion. However, it is equally important to note that the victim was an adult at the time of her disappearance. Thus, she was legally capable of making her own decisions regarding her own life. She has the legal right to choose her partner, elope, adopt any religion, and marry as she wishes, provided her actions are consensual and free from force, duress, deception, or coercion. It could be entirely possible that she acted of her own accord and went away of her free will. Though being an adult does not negate the possibility of manipulation or coercion, it requires cautious evaluation of the available evidence. While the account of the victim’s familyis significant, it should not be taken at face value in the absence of a statement from the victim herself, especially considering factors such as emotional distress and social stigma that may influence his perspective. While the facts available at present raise legitimate concerns that warrant documentation and continued monitoring, Hinduphobia Tracker applies a consistent evidentiary standard before classifying an incident as a hate crime. Given that the victim was an adult, that her statement is presently unavailable, and that the investigation is ongoing, the evidence currently available is insufficient to conclusively establish religious motivation or coercion. Therefore, this case has been added to the Undecided database. Should further verified information emerge, including the victim's own account or evidence demonstrating coercion, deception, or religiously motivated targeting, the classification of this case will be reviewed accordingly.
