Hindu woman lured into relationship, subjected to prolonged sexual exploitation by Muslim man pretending to be Hindu

Case Summary
A Hindu woman was deceived into a relationship and sexually exploited by a Muslim man identified as Shahrukh Beg, who concealed his religious identity by introducing himself as a Hindu man named Mahendra Chandrawat. The victim, orignally a resident of Rajasthan, was employed at Tata Consultancy Services in Pune. She first came into contact with the accused in Pune in April 2025, where he befriended her under the false Hindu identity. After gaining her trust, the accused proposed marriage and took her to Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, on the pretext of introducing her to his family. In May 2025, after bringing the victim to his house in Dewas when no family members were present, the accused raped her on the false promise of marriage. Thereafter, he continued to sexually exploit her on multiple occasions in Pune while repeatedly assuring her that they would marry. Throughout the relationship, he extracted approximately ₹7–8 lakh from the victim by convincing her that the money would be used for their future together after marriage. He also obtained loans and used bank cards in her name to extort additional money. During this period, he recorded photographs and videos of the victim and threatened to make them public in order to blackmail her. The accused also obtained her signatures and fraudulently secured loans in her name. She became aware of the loans only after receiving calls from the bank regarding repayment instalments. The victim further stated that an agreement relating to the financial transactions had been executed between them in November 2025. The victim subsequently discovered that the man she knew as Mahendra Chandrawat was in fact Shahrukh Beg and that he had concealed his true religious identity from the outset. When confronted, he dismissed the issue by stating that he did not differentiate between Hindus and Muslims. In November 2025, an agreement relating to the financial transactions was executed, yet the accused continued to exploit and deceive the victim. When the victim returned to Dewas in 2026 and asked him to fulfil his promise of marriage and return her money, the accused refused, verbally abused her, and threatened to kill her. He also raped her at gunpoint and blackmailed her. On 17 May 2026, when the victim and her brother travelled to Dewas to recover the money, the accused threatened them with a gun and a sword. Subsequently, Rajput Karni Sena State President Shailendra Singh Dixit, along with other office bearers, accompanied the victim to the Civil Lines Police Station in Dewas and demanded strict legal action against the accused. Based on the victim's complaint, the Civil Lines police registered a case against Shahrukh Beg under various sections of law and initiated an investigation. The accused was taken into police custody. Civil Lines Police Station in charge Sanjay Singh Gaur stated that both the victim and the accused had worked in Pune, where they first came into contact, and confirmed that the victim was sexually exploited under the pretext of marriage were under investigation. Police stated that further action would be taken based on the evidence collected during the investigation.
