Case Summary

In Hasanpur, Amroha, the father of a Dalit Hindu woman was abused with casteist slurs and threatened after he confronted a Muslim man and his family over the disappearance of his daughter. According to the complaint, the woman was taken to the private nursing home where she was undergoing nursing training, forcibly converted to Islam by a Muslim man named Attan, and married to him. When her father went in search of her, he was subjected to caste-based abuse, death threats, and intimidation. According to the victim's father, his 24-year-old daughter had previously been pursuing an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) course and was receiving nursing training at Sai Jeevan Daan Nursing Home in Hasanpur. He stated that her marriage had already been arranged. On July 7, the operator of the nursing home called his daughter to the hospital, after which she never returned home. When the father went to the hospital in search of his daughter, he found the doctor and other staff members present. According to him, the nursing home operator's wife told him that his daughter had now become a Muslim and that her Nikah (Islamic marriage) would be performed. When he requested to meet his daughter, the staff abused him using caste-based slurs and threatened to kill him. The father further informed that his daughter was being kept under the influence of the Muslim man through inducements and enticements. He said that the girl could be subjected to immoral acts or illegally forced to undergo religious conversion. He also stated that the medical staff were running an organised network involved in illegal activities, including cattle smuggling and religious conversions, under the cover of operating the hospital. The victim's father requested the Circle Officer to ensure his daughter's safe recovery and to take strict legal action against the accused. Station House Officer (SHO) Rajesh Tiwari stated that, based on the father's complaint, a case had been registered against the nursing home operator Attan, Shahnawaz, Nazreen, Junaid, and two to three unidentified persons under the relevant legal provisions. Further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.
