Case Summary
Hindu religious sentiments were outraged in Yamunanagar, Haryana, after objectionable and obscene videos depicting Hindu gods and goddesses were circulated on social media. According to the complaint filed by Jayant Swami, a resident of Subhash Nagar, who stated that on 15 July 2026, a video was posted from a Facebook account named "Shaurya Mehla" containing obscene and offensive remarks about Hindu deities. The content was insulting and hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu community. Following the complaint, the Cyber Crime Police Station conducted a preliminary enquiry and registered a case against an unidentified accused under relevant provisions of the law pertaining to hurting religious sentiments. The police initiated a technical investigation to identify the individual operating the Facebook account and to verify the authenticity of the video. Officials stated that information relating to the relevant social media accounts was being collected and that further action would be taken upon completion of the investigation.
