As per the details, anchor Padmaja Joshi asked Ibrahim directly why Udhayanidhi Stalin had chosen to repeat his call to eradicate Sanatana Dharma during his debut speech as Leader of the Opposition. Ibrahim responded by claiming that Sanatana Dharma represented divisiveness with caste hierarchy and Varnashrama Dharma. When Joshi repeatedly asked him to cite any source, text, or authority that explicitly defined Sanatana Dharma as a caste hierarchy, Ibrahim could not provide one. After multiple opportunities to answer the same straightforward question, Ibrahim stated plainly that he could not answer. Rather than acknowledging the absence of an evidential basis for his claims, Ibrahim pivoted to broader social grievances, arguing that Brahmanical patriarchy dominated every institution in India, including the Supreme Court, because its judges disproportionately came from one community that hailed from the head. He then accused Joshi of conducting a one-sided interview and told her she needed to learn how to conduct a debate first. Joshi responded directly: "I will be damned if I take instructions from anyone who makes statements without quoting a single source, is defending a statement asking for the eradication of an entire religion and then decides to play victim by saying we have withstood threats. You are the ones threatening." Throughout the exchange, Joshi pointedly asked whether Udhayanidhi Stalin had ever called for the eradication of any other religion because of hierarchies or discrimination within it. When asked to cite one source, one text, one authority that defined Sanatana Dharma as caste hierarchy, he could not. After multiple attempts and multiple opportunities, he stated plainly that he could not answer. This is not a minor evidential gap. It is the collapse of the entire intellectual foundation of the DMK's position. The call to eradicate Sanatana Dharma rests on the claim that Sanatana Dharma is equivalent to caste oppression. It was a direct defence of Udhayanidhi Stalin's 12 May 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly statement calling for the eradication of Sanatana Dharma, itself a deliberate repetition of Stalin's 2023 Sanatana Abolition Conference speech in which he compared Sanatana Dharma to mosquitoes, dengue, malaria, and coronavirus and called for its complete eradication. The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court ruled in January 2026 that those 2023 remarks amounted to hate speech against the Hindu community. Udhayanidhi Stalin repeated the call to eradicate Sanatana Dharma on the floor of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on 12 May 2026, less than four months after that judicial ruling. Hindu religious tradition was targeted specifically because its civilisational identity made it the focal point of the ideological hostility that Ibrahim and the DMK ecosystem he represents share. This reflects an underlying hostility toward Hindu religious identity that cannot be characterised as anything other than religiously motivated.
