Case Summary

In Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, a Hindu woman from the Civil Lines police station area was lured into a relationship, sexually exploited and blackmailed by a Muslim man. He was identified as Mohammad Sameer, a resident of Purkazi, who posed as a Hindu man named “Sagar” on Instagram to initiate contact with the victim and draw her into a relationship under a false identity. According to the victim’s complaint, after gaining her trust, the accused called her to a hotel where he administered an intoxicating substance and raped her. During this time, he recorded a video of the act without her knowledge. Using this video, he continued to threaten her and subjected her to repeated sexual exploitation over a prolonged period. The victim further stated that the accused used the video to blackmail her and extort money from her on multiple occasions. As a result, she repeatedly arranged money for him. When cash began going missing from her home, her family grew suspicious. Upon being questioned by her family members, the victim disclosed the entire incident. Following this, the victim, along with her mother and members of social organisations, reached the Civil Lines police station on Saturday night, 2 May 2026, and submitted a written complaint against the accused, demanding strict legal action. During this time, Narendra Panwar, convener of the Hindu Sangharsh Samiti, stated that cases of “love jihad” were rising rapidly in the district and called for strict police action. He expressed concern over a larger conspiracy behind such incidents and said that organised networks were active. He mentioned names such as Chhangur and Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui in this context and urged the police to dismantle such networks.
