The accused approached her on Instagram in January 2025 by pretending to be a Hindu youth named Aditya. Over the course of more than a year, he gained her trust through regular communication, which gradually progressed into in-person meetings. Exploiting this trust, he lured her to the Janakganj area of Gwalior on the pretext of marriage, where he raped her. During this period, the victim grew suspicious of his identity and, upon further inquiry, discovered that his real name was Shadab and that he was a Muslim. Subsequently, he subjected her to sustained intimidation, threatening to circulate obscene photos and videos to silence her. He also coerced her to convert to Islam and pressured her to offer namaz. The prolonged fear and mental trauma prevented her from approaching authorities immediately; however, after receiving encouragement from her friends, she eventually filed a complaint. Acting on her statement, the police at Ashoka Garden police station in Bhopal registered a case and transferred the case diary to Gwalior, as the crime had taken place there. A search operation was initiated to apprehend the accused.
