Muslim man grooms Hindu woman into converting to Islam, drugs her and physically assaults her with his friends after performing nikah

Case Summary
A 19-year-old Hindu woman from Agra named Anjali was groomed by her Muslim friend's brother, Arman Khan. Soon they eloped to Firozabad and had conversion nikah since her mother was against their relationship. He started using her as a commodity, presenting her in front of his Muslim friends who drugged her and exploited her physically. There were bite marks and burn marks on her body. Accused Arman was an alcoholic who used to beat her up. Victim Anjali also attempted suicide. As per reports, they posed as a Hindu couple in front of their landlord. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the IPC.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
In this case, there is a suspicion of the case being a religiously motivated one since there was conversion to Islam by the Hindu victim for marriage, after which the Muslim perpetrator started exploiting her and using her to get physically abused by his friends. Further evidence of the extend of torture is that the victim woman attempted to commit suicide. However, since the woman was an adult and married the Muslim perpetrator and converted to Islam can be considered an informed decision. Since there is no other evidence or testimony to indicate a religious motive to the crime, this case is being categorised as 'undecided'.
