Missionary school stops Hindu student, who took Anjaneya Deeksha, from attending class for wearing saffron attire
Case Summary
In Telangana’s Adilabad, a Hindu student who took Anjaneya Deeksha was not allowed to attend school wearing his Deeksha attire. Abhinav, a sixth-standard student at St. Paul’s School in Utnoor was sent back home as the school administration did not allow him to attend classes in his mandatory saffron attire and mala. Upon learning about it, other Anjaneya bhakts who had taken Deeksha protested against the school. Thereafter, Abhinav was given permission to wear saffron clothing as part of his vrata by the principal. Hindu organisations reportedly put a halt to the protest after the nun apologised.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
In this case, there is a strong suspicion that the Hindu students were not allowed to wear their ritualistic saffron attire due to the religious animosity of the Christian teachers of the missionary school. However, the school had asked the students to wear the school uniform if they wish to attend classes. While suspicions are there are the teachers apologised, it is possible that the school was enforcing uniform code and not being adversarial with the students' faith itself. For that reason, this case is being added to the undecided database.
