Case Summary
Two minor Hindu girls from Jiginiya village under Ranipur police station area, Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, were kidnapped by a group of Muslims. Among the accused are three men and one woman. According to the victims’ family, a 16-year-old daughter and her cousin of the same age had gone to the village canal. At that time, 25-year-old Imtiaz, a resident of the same village, along with 20-year-old Chhotkau, son of Musibat Ali, were lying in wait. They were assisted by 40-year-old Moin and the 19-year-old daughter of Musibat Ali. The group kidnapped the two girls using a four-wheeler. Police registered a case and began an investigation.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
In this case, two minor Hindu girls were abducted by Muslim youths. While it is important to acknowledge that the victims in this case are minors, making any supposed "consent" legally invalid under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the criteria for inclusion in the hate crime database require a distinct religious motive.
