Mantu explained that Adil, who rented a house next to theirs and frequently visited their grocery store, grew close to his wife before eloping with her. When Mantu confronted Adil over the phone, Adil threatened and insulted him. The incident drew attention from Hindu organisations, who stated that such cases are common, with Muslim men assuming Hindu identities to entrap women. Local MLA Naveen Jaiswal promised support, and the police were urged to take swift action. Adil, originally from Meerut, had come to Ranchi for construction work and was living under a false identity.
