Mois abducts 2-year-old Hindu girl, rapes her, suffocates her to death, dumps her in a drain; arrested after police encounter

Case Summary
In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a 2-year-old Hindu girl was raped, murdered and dumped in a drain on August 16, 2024. Mois, son of Mohammad Hadis, is accused of the crime. He abducted the girl while she was sleeping with her mother outside her home, raped her in a deserted area, and suffocated her to death. Afterward, he discarded her body in a drain and attempted to flee. Mois was later arrested after a police encounter, during which he tried to escape and fired at officers. The police shot him in self-defence, injuring his knees. Mois was found with a pistol and ammunition. He faces charges under the Indian Penal Code, the POCSO Act and the Arms Act.
