Moeed Khan and Raju Khan were arrested, and an FIR was registered under gang rape and POCSO Act sections. The police also began investigating the legality of Khan’s bakery shop. The victim’s mother reported facing pressure to withdraw the case.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
It is often seen that minor Hindu girls are abducted and raped with the specific intention of grooming them to convert to Islam. In other cases, it has also been observed that the Muslim perpetrators target Hindu girls specifically owing to their animosity against the religious identity of the victim. In this case, however, there are no concrete indications that religious animosity played a role in the crime. It is therefore being categorised as undecided.
