Mother forces minor Hindu daughter to convert and marry Murtaza Ali, lies about her age on documents, duo secretly cremate her when she dies

Case Summary
A mother in Mohanlalganj forced her minor daughter to marry a Muslim youth who frequently visited their home. The girl was converted to Islam before the marriage. Within months, she became pregnant and died a week after giving birth to a baby girl. The youth and the mother secretly cremated the teenager. The girl's uncle reported the incident to ACP Mohanlalganj, demanding action against his sister-in-law and the youth. ACP Radha Raman Singh stated that the mother and the youth claimed the girl was an adult who willingly married the Muslim youth but could not provide proof of her age. Investigations revealed that the youth, Murtaza Ali, had admitted the minor to a hospital under the name Sania, falsely claiming she was his 19-year-old wife. The youth did not comply with police notices, and no marriage documents were provided. The uncle's complaint revealed that the Muslim youth began visiting after the death of the girl’s father two years prior to the crime. The girl, aged 15-16, was sent to live with the youth six months prior. The police are taking action against the mother and the youth based on the investigation's findings.

Coercion includes intimidatory tactics like force-feeding a Hindu victim beef to convert to another religion, forceful circumcision etc. In several cases documented, non-Hindu perpetrators or those who harbour specific animosity towards Hinduism, harass victims simply based on their religious identity. Such cases often also include harassment to ensure the Hindu victim abandons his/her professed religion and adopts the religion of the perpetrator.
