Hindu shop worker attacked by Muslim youths over Instagram story in Burhanpur, 8 including Altaf, Ramzan arrested

The conflict began with a social media post about results of a local buffalo fight game (Pada), leading to a violent confrontation. CCTV footage shows the accused beating Jadhav with sticks. SP Devendra Patidar deployed a police force to manage the situation, assuring stringent action to maintain peace. The village remains peaceful but under high alert with police patrolling to prevent further clashes. The police said that accused Altaf had commented on Jadhav’s Instagram story and the two later verbally confronted each other in person. However, within half an hour, Altaf called his father Mohammad Ramzan and 10 to 12 other of his family members with lathis. They brutally attacked the victim.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
In this case, the Muslim mob attacked the Hindu shop owner over an Instagram post. There is sufficient precedent to show that cases where social media posts lead to Hindus being attacked are religiously motivated where the post, according to the Muslim mob, insults either Islam or Muslims. There have been several cases where the Muslim mob has beheaded Hindus for the same. However, in the current case, it is unclear what the nature of the Instagram post was.
