Three sadhus attacked by a gang of eunuchs in Shahjahanpur, Sharif and 3 others booked for threatening to kill them

Case Summary
In Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, a gang of eunuchs violently attacked three sadhus who were begging for alms. The incident, which took place on June 11, 2024, resulted in the sadhus sustaining injuries and having their harmonium and dholak snatched and destroyed. The main accused in the attack is identified as Sharif. The police have registered an FIR against four accused: Sharif, Asiv, Sonam, and Sundaram, and have started an investigation. The incident occurred in the Kalan police station area. Rajendra Nath Goswami, a resident of Badaun district, lodged a complaint with the police on June 12, 2024. In his complaint, Rajendra stated that he, along with Ramsaran and Gopal Nath, was in the Kalan area collecting annual alms while singing bhajans with a harmonium and dholak. During this time, the four accused eunuchs arrived and brutally assaulted the sadhus in broad daylight. They smashed the sadhus' harmonium and dholak on the ground, abused them, and threatened to kill them if they were seen in the area again. The head of the eunuchs in the concerned area, Chandni Chauhan, has stated that the attackers are habitual criminals who cause trouble regularly and have assaulted other people in the past.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
In this case, there is a strong suspicion that the Muslim perpetrators attacked the Sadhus owing to religious animosity. The sadhus were singing Hindu hymns and praters, and there are doubts that they were attacked by the Muslim perpetrators because they were intolerant towards their religious display. However, since there is no statement from the victims towards the motive and no other indications such are religious slurs, the case is being categorised as 'undecided'.
