Hindus attacked with stones and bombs by Muslim mob for objecting to cow slaughter during Eid

Case Summary
Clashes erupted in Gopinathpur village, Pakud district, Jharkhand, near the West Bengal border, over cow slaughter during Bakrid. Tensions rose when a Muslim villager slaughtered a cow, prompting a sharp reaction from the Hindu community. The situation escalated as the accused called for support from co-religionists across the border, resulting in a large group arriving and clashing with the protesting Hindus. Bombs were hurled and stones were pelted during the confrontation. Upon receiving information about the violence, a police team promptly arrived at the scene to take control of the situation. Heavy security personnel were deployed to guard the village and prevent any recurrence of the incident.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
In several cases, Hindus are attacked for opposing religiously motivated crimes being committed against a fellow Hindu or simply for voicing an opinion opposing radical elements, who either have in the past or continue to persecute Hindus. In such cases, the initial attack against the victim, against which the Hindu was trying to defend the victim, would also need to be classified as a religiously motivated hate crime. Since the initial crime itself was religiously motivated and the subsequent crime of attempting to save the victim or speaking against the radical elements ends up inviting a violent attack, it would also be classified as a religiously motivated hate crime under this category. The Hindus were attempting to stop the illegal slaughter of cows and they came under attack by a Muslim mob. There is an additional religious angle to the case since cows are considered sacred in Hinduism and radical Muslims have, historically, attacked Hindus owing to their protection of the sacred cow. Further, the cow is also used in other cases where Hindus are taunted, forced fed Beef, etc for the purpose of the denigration of faith and forceful conversion. Since the radical Muslims attacked the Hindus while they were trying to rescue the sacred cow, being taken for illegal slaughter, this case is being categorised as a hate crime.
