In Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur, a Muslim man named Khalil was arrested on June 9, 2024, after he cheated and established a sexual relationship with a Hindu girl using a fake identity. He introduced himself to the girl as a Hindu named Anil Kumar and then forced her to convert her religion to Islam. In her complaint, the victim said that the accused met her two years ago and made her believe that he was in love with her. She faced a lot of brutality once she came to know that the accused was actually a Muslim and was already married. He forced the victim to abort her child, forcefully established sexual relations and refused to marry unless she agreed to convert her religion to Islam.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
The distinct element in this particular case that demonstrates that the Muslim perpetrator committed the crime while harbouring a bias against the Hindu faith is that he pretended to be a Hindu to deceive the victim.
