Case Summary

A 65-year-old man was fatally assaulted while on his way to visit a temple in Rajasthan. Initially thought to be due to a brain hemorrhage, CCTV footage revealed that the elderly man was attacked, resulting in his death. Satyanarayan Gurjar was hospitalized in critical condition and passed away during treatment. Four days after the incident, the deceased's son filed a murder case against three individuals: Faizan, Zeeshan, and Feroz. The incident had occurred near the Devnarayan temple in Kishorpura on May 22. The victim, Satyanarayan Khatana, had encountered obstruction on his path to the temple due to construction work. Upon requesting passage, he was met with abuse and subsequently assaulted by the accused. The attackers punched him in the chest, leading to fatal injuries. The victim's son, who is the district president of BJP Yuva Morcha Rural, reported the incident and a murder case was registered against the accused. The matter is under investigation by senior police officials. The victim was reportedly associated with RSS.

Why it is Hate Crime ?

In this case, the Hindu victim who was murdered was on his way to the temple and was affiliated with RSS - an organisation that is viewed as a pro-Hindu organisation by the Islamists. There are suspicions that the Hindu victim was beaten and murdered because he asked the Muslim perpetrator to not block his way while he was going to the temple and also because he was affiliated with RSS.
