Arif and Rizwan gang-rape minor Dalit girl in a moving car in Gonda

Case Summary
In Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district, Mohammad Arif and Mohammad Rizwan lured a minor Dalit girl inside a car on the pretext of giving her a mobile phone. They dragged her inside, drove from Munnan ka Chauraha towards Maharajganj under the Nagar Kotwali area and gang-raped the 17-year-old girl in a secluded area inside the Swift Dzire car. However, the speeding car collided with an electric pole and a shop’s shutter in front of Maharajganj Police Station. Subsequently, the entire matter came to light, and the locals alerted the Police. The accused had abandoned the car and fled the scene by then. After the victim girl's mother filed a complaint, both, Mohammad Arif and Mohammad Rizwan were arrested and sent to jail. The police recovered the car used in the crime. One of the accused, Arif, claimed he borrowed the car from a friend, stating he needed it to attend a relative's last rites. However, instead of attending the last rites, Arif took the car to Balrampur, where his 20-year-old friend, Mohammad Rizwan, joined him.
