Seven Muslim youths kidnap and gang-rape minor Dalit girl in Meerut's jungle; continue to victamise her for two days; village Pradhan Aslam booked for pressuring victim's family to withhold report
Case Summary
In Loiya village, Meerut on August 29, 2024, a Dalit teenager studying in Class 11 was kidnapped by seven Muslim men while she was defecating. They kept her hostage in a jungle and took turns raping her for 48 hours until her health worsened. Afterwards, they fled from the scene, leaving the victim in a critical condition. On September 1, the Police recorded the statement of the Hindu victim. The victim stated that the accused Samir, Raja and Sameer along with four accomplices kidnapped her. They took her to the forest of Loiya in the Daurala police station area and gang-raped her continuously for two days near a tube well in the field. As per the information received, one accused Samir is a resident of the Mahalka area, while Raja and Sameer are residents of Nangla Hareru. The Police booked Samir, Raja, Sameer, and four unknown persons based on the FIR lodged. The Main accused Samir was arrested. The Falawada police further registered a case against Aslam, the Village Pradhan, based on a complaint by the victim's family. The family stated that on August 31, Pradhan Aslam claimed he had tried to recover their kidnapped daughter and urged them not to file a report. They said that Aslam was colluding with the accused and attempting to protect them. Additionally, the family accused him of threatening to kill them at the police station.
Why it is Hate Crime ?
In this case, a minor Hindu girl was abducted, raped, and threatened by Muslim perpetrators. There is an additional suspicion of religious motive in this case since the village pradhan, also a Muslim, was forcing the family to withdraw their complaint to protect the Muslim accused. IIt has often been seen that Muslim perpetrators target Hindu women owing to intrinsic animosity towards Hindus, specifically Hindu women. However, due to the lack of concrete indication of a religious motive, this case is being categorized as 'undecided'. If more details emerge, it would be added to the hate crime database.
