Ghulam Mustafa raped Hindu friend’s 3-year-old daughter in Valsad

Case Summary
In the Umargam area of Gujarat’s Valsad, a Muslim man named Ghulam Mustafa was booked under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and POCSO Act for raping his close Hindu friend's 3-year-old daughter. The accused was nabbed from Maharashtra’s Palghar as he was attempting to flee to his native place in Jharkhand. The incident took place in the Deodhar area of Umargam taluk. Reportedly, before committing the crime, the accused intoxicated his Hindu friend by making him drink. He then took the minor victim, who was playing nearby, to a bathroom in the chawl and started sexually abusing her. The girl's mother caught Mustafa in the act and screamed, which led him to flee. The victim, in critical condition, was hospitalised. After the family of the girl filed a complaint on August 27, 2024, protestors and members of Hindu organisations gathered around the Umargam Police Station demanding the death penalty for the accused.
