Hinduphobia Tracker is a project to define, document and research hate crimes committed against Hindus worldwide. Hinduphobia, or anti-Hindu sentiments and actions (please refer to this article for a comprehensive definition of the term), is dismissed and denied as a real phenomenon owing to malicious intents or due to lack of information. The project aims to foster awareness and push back against the dismissal of the historical and ongoing persecution of Hindus based on their religious identity.
The project aims to transparently and accurately record religiously motivated hate crimes against Hindus, in order to effectively represent the ongoing persecution of Hindus, raise awareness and advocate against the prejudices against the community. A database of such hate crimes is maintained as the main offering of the project, which has been made accessible to the public.
Hinduphobia Tracker by no means claims or suggests that the database is exhaustive. The database is a word in progress and aims to document as many religiously motivated hate crimes as possible, to make it an accurate representation of ground realities. Pleaser refer to this page to know the methodology we employ to include incidents in the database.
The ensuing objective of the Hinduphobia Tracker is to advocate for religious and human rights of the Hindu community thought data driven documentation and research.
The project is owned and run by Gavishti Foundation, a not-for-profit initiative to empower communities through data-driven research and advocacy. Foundation has received support from various entities in part. Information about the same is available here.
